Hi,I am selling this very rare item that belonged to Karen Carpenter for a dear friend, who asked for my assistance with this auction. The item will directly be mailed out from her home address. All questions I receive will be sent directly to her to answer.
The seller was best friends with Evelyn Wallace (secretary to the Carpenters and personal friend of the Carpenter family). She got to know Karen and the Carpenter family through the years and became a close family friend.
She recently found this item and asked me to put it up for auction.
What you have here is a small Mickey Mouse coin purse that once belonged to Karen Carpenter. The coin purse was given to Evelyn Wallace shortly after Karen's passing by Agnes Carpenter, while cleaning out Karen's Century City condo. Evelyn passed this item onto my seller, knowing that she also collected Mickey Mouse items. It was recently discovered after 38 years in a drawer. The purse is in wonderful condition for its age.
The item will be mailed directly from the owners address in Utah.
As a bonus in this auction, two mickey mouse earrings where inside the coin purse. They have remained in the purse since the seller received it. There is no proof that Karen ever wore these earrings. The seller has decided to add them as a bonus with the auction.
Only USA and Canadian bidders please.
Up for auction is one of my special Carpenters keepsakes. This gold (color) coin measure 2" wide and is quite heavy. It still has its original black velvet bag which has kept it in really wonderful condition. This was given to me by Dad Carpenter who was in charge of ordering merchandise for the fan club. He received these from a vendor but it was decided that the price per coin was going to be too expensive to offer to fan club members. I remember him saying that the cost per coin was and there was no way the fans would pay at least each to cover the coin, packaging and shipping. They did however make some really special Christmas gifts from Mom & Dad Carpenter in 1972.
After 50+ years of collecting, I'm downsizing my collection and finding new homes for my Carpenters treasures. I'm not getting any younger so its good to pass some of my very wonderful memorabilia on to a new and younger generation of Carpenters fans.
Good luck in your bidding.
